Frequently Asked Questions
-
What requirements do the quartet have regarding space and equipment?
For the perfect layout, the quartet needs approx. 3 x 2 metres. We need four armless chairs and adequate lighting.
We also need somewhere to get changed and leave our cases and belongings.
Our cellists will provide their own "spike holder" so as not to damage floors.
-
Can you play outside?
We're more than happy to play outside on fine days during the summer months, however we need shelter from the wind, rain or direct sunlight. Please inform your venue that you may want us to play outside so that arrangements can be made for shelter and chairs.
-
Do I need to provide refreshments?
To perform at their best, the musicians should be provided with soft drinks throughout their performance. A light meal/sandwiches need only be provided for bookings of 3 or more hours.
-
What if I want a piece of music that isn't on the repertoire list?
In most cases we can get hold of requests – or it can be arranged for a small fee.
-
What if one of the quartet members are ill?
We have a group of professional deputies that play with us regularly – they stand in when one of us is on holiday or otherwise engaged, so they are well rehearsed with the music.
-
Do you have public liability insurance?
Yes, as members of the Musicians' Union we are covered for public liability.
